Science Cafe to look at climate change

NDSU’s next Science Café will demonstrate the basics of climate change.

Matt Craig, professor of physics and astronomy at Minnesota State University Moorhead, is scheduled to present “Physics of Climate Change” Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m. in Stoker’s Basement of the Hotel Donaldson, 101 N. Broadway.

In his talk, Craig will describe a simple model of climate change that relates the observed concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere to observed surface temperatures. According to Craig, the model is not detailed, but it captures the relationship between greenhouse gases and temperature.

Science Café is sponsored by the NDSU College of Science and Mathematics. The series is designed as an opportunity for the community to hear local scientists discuss interesting science topics in a casual setting.

The event is free and open to the public. Attendees must be 21 or older or accompanied by a parent or guardian. For more information, contact Diane Goede at diane.goede@ndsu.edu or 701-231-7412.
