Three NDSU College of Business students participated in the Great Northwoods Sales Warm-Up hosted at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Oct. 19-21. The national sales competition attracted students from 20 universities.

Ashley Stoppleworth, a junior majoring in marketing and agricultural economics for Kindred, North Dakota, was named the top sales competitor from NDSU. Senior marketing major Drew Bade from Park Rapids, Minnesota, and Ben Asper a junior business management major from South St. Paul, Minnesota, also were members of the sales team. All three students who participated in the sales competition are also enrolled in the Certificate in Professional Selling program.

The Sales Warm-Up is a nationwide sales competition for college students interested in sales as a profession. The competition connects college students with corporate recruiters and provides a venue for faculty to exchange best practices. This year, competitors received more than $5,000 in cash, prizes and awards.

The team was coached by Mike Krush, associate professor of marketing and director of the Center for Professional Selling and Sales Technology, and Somnath Banerjee, assistant professor of marketing.

The three-person team is one of the activities sponsored by NDSU’s Center for Professional Selling and Sales Technology. It is the only academic center dedicated to developing the sales skills of North Dakota students within the 11 campuses of the North Dakota State University System. The center offers a certificate in Professional Selling that is available to all NDSU undergraduates.
