Title IX/civil rights investigator joins NDSU

Emily McGann has joined the NDSU staff as Title IX/civil rights investigator, based in the Equity Office. She began her duties on Oct. 2.

McGann previously was at Bennington College in Bennington, Vermont, where she was associate director of campus safety for four years. Prior to that, she was a campus safety officer, a victim advocate for and a deputy sheriff in Bennington County, and police officer, certified DARE officer and domestic violence instructor for Rochester Police Department. McGann has several years of training as a Title IX investigator. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from University of New Hampshire.

The Equity Office is now responsible for conducting investigations involving students.

Mcgann will investigate allegations of sexual misconduct, discrimination, harassment and retaliation. The investigations include alleged violations of Titles VI, VII and IX, focusing on students but also involving faculty, staff, and third parties in compliance with university policies and civil rights laws. The Title IX/civil rights investigator is an impartial party in conducting prompt, thorough and equitable investigations.
