Biological sciences seminar to feature evolutionary biologist

The NDSU Department of Biological Sciences, along with the Department of Plant Sciences and Cooperative Sponsorship Committee, are set to host a seminar by Michael S. Barker, assistant professor and director of the bioinformatics degree program in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Arizona, Tucson.

Barker’s seminar, titled “Genome Duplication and the Evolution of Plant Diversity,” is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 17, at 3 p.m. in Loftsgard 114.

Everyone is welcome.

Barker is an evolutionary biologist who studies biological diversity, particularly the evolution of plant diversity. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Denison University, his master’s degree in botany at Miami University and his doctorate in evolutionary biology from Indiana University.
