Integrative biologist to present NDSU seminar

The NDSU Department of Biological Sciences is set to host a seminar by Turk Rhen, associate professor of biology at the University of North Dakota. The seminar, titled “The Mechanistic Basis and Adaptive Significance of Temperature-dependent Sex Determination,” is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 1, at 3 p.m. in Loftsgard 114.

Everyone is welcome.

Rhen is an integrative biologist, with interests ranging from molecular biology to ecology and evolution. His lab has developed the common snapping turtle as a model to study both unique and conserved aspects of gender determination.

Rhen earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of North Dakota and his doctorate from the University of Texas-Austin.
