NDSU head football coach Chris Klieman has been elected to the board of trustees of the American Football Coaches Association. He was elected by members attending the association’s convention in Charlotte, and will be a Football Championship Subdivision representative.

The board formulates policy and provides direction for the association, which was founded in 1922 by Amos Alonzo Stagg, John Heisman and others. It has more than 11,000 members from all levels of the profession.

Klieman joins 18 other distinguished coaches on the board of trustees, including former NDSU head coach Craig Bohl, who was elected in 2012 and is the head coach at the University of Wyoming. Former Bison wide receivers coach Van Malone, defensive coordinator at Southern Methodist University, is an ex officio member and chair of the Minority Issues Committee.

Klieman recently finished his fourth season as the head coach at NDSU by guiding the Bison to a 14-1 record, a fourth straight Missouri Valley Football Conference title and the FCS national championship. He has a 54-6 record at NDSU.
