NDSU’s Capitalism and Society Lecture Series will host a presentation by economist Stephen Moore, scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 20, at 4 p.m. in the Barry Hall AgCountry Auditorium. Moore’s presentation, “How Free Enterprise Can Restore American Prosperity,” is free and open to the public.

Moore is a Distinguished Visiting Fellow, Project for Economic Growth, at The Heritage Foundation. He formerly wrote about the economy and public policy for The Wall Street Journal and was a member of the newspaper’s editorial board. Moore returned to The Heritage Foundation in 2014, about 25 years after his tenure as the think tank’s Grover M. Hermann Fellow in Budgetary Affairs from 1984 to 1987.

During the 2016 presidential campaign, he was senior economic adviser to Donald Trump and drafted early versions of the Trump tax plan.

The Capitalism and Society Lecture Series is hosted by the NDSU Center for the Study of Public Choice and Private Enterprise. The lecture series invites dialogue between researchers, students and community members about institutions and policies that encourage and enhance human well-being.

“We’re excited to host Mr. Moore at NDSU. His experiences in research, journalism and public policy give him a unique, informed perspective for speaking to students and members of our community,” said Jeremy Jackson, center director. “Students and businesspersons will learn about the role of free enterprise in creating a prosperous American economy.”

The center produces research and programming on issues relevant to North Dakota and the Upper Great Plains region and the distinctive roles of entrepreneurship, free markets, philanthropy, private enterprise and public policy.

After the lecture, a short session for questions and answers is scheduled, followed by pizza and refreshments in the Barry Hall Atrium.
