A new national survey has ranked the NDSU College of Engineering as one of the nation’s best values.

Best Value Schools looked at more than 500 institutions that offer bachelor’s and master’s degrees in engineering. NDSU came in 28th overall and was the highest ranked school in North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota.

Best Value Schools used four main factors for its list: number of accredited programs, STEM majors, early career pay and net price.

“The sheer breadth of the university’s engineering offerings—a total of 10 accredited degree programs, all told—alone earns NDSU its top engineering school ranking,” said the editors at Best Value Schools.

NDSU also scored high for the fact that STEM majors comprise a full quarter of the school’s student body.

“As a land-grant university, we are proud to provide affordable access to a high-quality education,” said Michael Kessler, dean of the College of Engineering. “Our students engineer solutions to real-world problems that benefit our state and region, and our programs have a national reputation for excellence.”

The NDSU College of Engineering awards student scholarships totaling more than $170,000 per year on average. Students can also receive financial assistance by completing internships or cooperative education programs.
