World iView speaker series to begin this fall

“African Soul, American Heart,” a documentary written and produced by Kevin Brooks, is a film that follows Joseph Akol Makeer, one of the Lost Boys of Sudan, as he returns home for the first time in 20 years. The event is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 24, from noon to 1 p.m., in the Memorial Union Century Theater. The presentation is part of the World iView speaker series.

The film retraces some of Makeer’s journey and includes interviews with United Nations officials, clergy and orphans. Through conversations with these people, he tries to raise awareness of the challenges facing Sudanese villagers as they reclaim their way of life.

The World iView speaker series is sponsored by the Office of International Programs. For more information, contact Samudra Kugel at samundra.weeratung e-kugel@ndsu.edu or 1-7895.
