Kelly Sassi, associate professor of English and education, participated in the first Transformation Teacher-Educator Fellowship Summer Institute at Arcadia University, July 7-14.

The international institute welcomed teacher-educators from around the world to develop equity-minded practices for teaching the next generation of teachers.

“It was inspiring to hear multicultural scholars from all over the country, as well as from international sites, talk about different approaches to preparing and supporting teachers,” said Sassi. “The fellowship challenged my thinking about social justice in teacher education, inspired me to make changes to my course materials, and armed me with resources to make my vision a reality.”

Sassi joined the NDSU faculty in 2008. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English literature and teaching certification in English language arts from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and her doctorate in English and education at the University of Michigan.
