Moos, Ewes and More set for Oct. 27

The ninth annual Moos, Ewes and More is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the NDSU Equine Center on 19th Avenue North in Fargo. The free, family-friendly event is hosted by NDSU’s Department of Animal Sciences.

The first 500 attendees will be treated to a free "Breakfast on the Farm" featuring beef and egg breakfast burritos, milk and fruit. The North Dakota Beef Commission is sponsoring the breakfast and NDSU's Carnivore Catering is preparing it.

The event will have a mix of new and old activities, including wagon rides and Kid Alley games, as well as horse and canine demonstrations. Participants also will have a chance to bottle feed a calf, guess the feedstuffs and see research in action.

Attendees will meet the animals that call NDSU home, the farm managers who care for them, and the faculty and staff who teach and conduct research in the department.

“As Halloween is approaching, this is a perfect opportunity to wear your favorite Halloween costume," said Leigh Ann Skurupey, NDSU Extension's 4-H youth development specialist for animal science and one of the event's organizers. "Come dressed to impress our farm animals as you enjoy this fun-filled day."
