NDSU’s Department of Animal Sciences is set to host the ninth annual Moos, Ewes and More on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the NDSU Equine Center, located at 5140 19th Ave. N.

The family-friendly event is free.

“Moos, Ewes and More gives people the opportunity to see first-hand what animal sciences is all about,” explained co-chair Loren Baranko, lecturer of animal sciences. “Attendees will see everything from sheep, dog and equine demonstrations to research in action and kids’ games. The event is meant to bring the community closer to animal agriculture and give them a chance to talk with those who are involved with the animals on a day-to-day basis.”

The first 500 participants will receive a free beef breakfast burrito sponsored by the North Dakota Beef Commission and prepared by NDSU’s Carnivore Catering.

Some of the activities include aKid Alley with animal-related games, youth “animal surgery” station, wool spinning, center ring demonstrations and wagon rides.

“With Halloween approaching, this is the perfect opportunity for kids to wear their costumes and come dressed to impress the farm animals,” said Leigh Ann Skurupey, NDSU Extension 4-H youth development specialist for animal science and one of the event's organizers.
