Carol Archbold, professor of criminal justice, has been invited by the U.S. Department of Justice to participate in the Research Summit on Women in Policing Dec. 3-4 in Washington, DC.

The summit, to be hosted by the department’s National Institute of Justice, will bring together line, mid-rank and executive police officers, researchers, international experts and professional associations to explore current literature on women in policing; identify barriers to recruitment, retention, and promotion; explore the realities that women working in the policing field face; and identify promising practices for increasing representation and improving culture.

After the summit, the National Institute of Justice will produce a special report to chart a course for future research.

Archbold joined the NDSU faculty in 2005. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of North Dakota and doctorate from the University of Nebraska, Omaha.
