Tom Isern, NDSU University Distinguished Professor of history, is scheduled to talk about, read from and sign his new book, “Pacing Dakota,” at Common Good Books, located at 38 Snelling Ave. S. in St. Paul, Minnesota. He is set to be at the store Wednesday, Nov. 28, from 7-9 p.m.

“Pacing Dakota,” published by NDSU Press, is a 264-page collection of stories from across North Dakota.

“The stories are packed with human interest, but also have much to say about community and life on the northern plains in our times,” said Isern, who is well known in the region from his Prairie Public radio show “Plains Folk." 

The book was published in July and is in its second printing.

Isern, who earned his doctorate at Oklahoma State University, has received several honors, including the 1999 Peltier Award for Innovative Teaching and the 2000 Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Professorship Award. He is active in the Western Social Science Association and Preservation North Dakota.
