The NDSU Department of Biological Sciences and the Cooperative Sponsorship Committee are set to host a presentation by Kristi Montooth, the Susan J. Rosowski associate professor in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. 

Montooth’s seminar, “Mitochondial-nuclear Dynamics Shape Development, Life-history and Genome Evolution,” is scheduled for Friday, April 26, at 3 p.m. in Loftsgard 114.

Montooth specializes in the evolution of genes, genomes and physiology. Her team’s recent work connects genome variation to organismal phenotypes and fitness to understand:

• How physiological traits evolve to fit organisms to their ecologies

• How evolutionary forces shape the genetic and biochemical pathways underlying physiological change.

She earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of California, Irvine, and her doctorate in genetics and development at Cornell University.
