Carol Archbold, Walter F. and Verna Gehrts Endowed Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice and Political Science, has accepted an invitation to serve as deputy chair of the Membership Committee for the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences in 2019 and chair of the committee in 2020.

The invitation came from Cassia Spohn, school director and professor at the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions at Arizona State University. Spohn is current second vice president of the ACJS.

Archbold also was invited to be one of four speakers from the United States at the "Recruiting, Retaining, and Promoting Women Police Officers: An International Comparison of Challenges and Opportunities for Change” summit April 29-30. The international summit will showcase researchers from the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and Australia. The summit is sponsored by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council.

Archbold joined the NDSU faculty in 2005. She receivedthe ACJS 2018 Outstanding Mentor Award, 2013 Chamber of Commerce NDSU Distinguished Faculty Service Award and the 2011 Outstanding Research/Creative Activity Award for the NDSU College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.

She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of North Dakota, and her doctorate from the University of Nebraska, Omaha.

The ACJS is an international association established in 1963 to foster professional and scholarly activities in the field of criminal justice.
