Baseball student-athlete earns academic honors

NDSU outfielder Jayse McLean has been named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 6 Division I Baseball Team for the second straight year. The team was announced May 9, and selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America. McLean earned Google Cloud Academic All-America First Team honors last season.

McLean joins Tim Colwell (2012, 2013, 2014), Zach Wentz (2010, 2011, 2012) and Kole Zimmerman (2007, 2008) as multi-time selections to the team. First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in June.

McLean is a redshirt senior from Great Falls, Montana. He maintained a perfect 4.00 grade-point average while majoring in mechanical engineering, and currently has a 4.0 GPA in Graduate School.

District 6 includes student-athletes from Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his current institution and be nominated by his sports information director.
