World I View presentation set

Christopher Whitsel, assistant professor of sociology; Faredun Hodizoda, Tajikistan Dialogue Project; and Sardorbek Musayev, Muskie Fellow, will present a World I View presentation on Thursday, March. 25, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Memorial Union Century Theater. Titled "Surviving the Collapse: Stories from Post-Soviet Tajikistan," the presenters will talk about working with the Oral History of Independent Tajikistan Project and the experiences of other men and women who have lived through the post-Soviet transition.

The collapse of the Soviet Union ushered in tremendous change to multiple societies, including the Muslim countries of Soviet Central Asia. During the past decades, Tajikistan has experienced multiple political, economic and social changes. The Oral History Project of Independent Tajikistan, sponsored by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Academy, was developed to capture stories from the everyday lives of its citizens.

World I View presentations cover international topics and are presented to the NDSU and Fargo-Moorhead communities. Speakers include students, faculty and staff who share their experiences on a broad range of global themes. The Office of International Programs sponsors the presentations.
