Northern Crops Institute plans short course

The Northern Crops Institute has planned "DDGS: Nutrition, Use and Feed Manufacturing Short Course" for May 4-6. The course will highlight recent advances in nutritional composition, feeding, handling and feed manufacturing of distiller’s grains alone and in combination with complementary ingredients.

Course goals include gaining a greater understanding of nutritional values for different species of animals, producing feed that increases animal performance and achieving consistent pellet quality.

Faculty include Vern Anderson, NDSU Research Extension Center in Carrington, N.D.; Ken Kalschuer, associate professor of animal sciences at South Dakota State University in Brookings; Kim Koch, manager of the Northern Crops Institute Feed Center; Sally Noll, professor of animal sciences at the University of Minnesota in St. Paul, Minn.; and Robert Thaler, professor of animal and range sciences at SDSU.

The registration fee is $750 and is due Monday, April 19. Course fee includes written materials associated with lectures and laboratory demonstrations and scheduled breaks. Hotel rooms and other meals are not included in the registration fee. Cancellations received after April 19 will be assessed a 10 percent service fee.
