Fulbright informational meeting offered for students

An informational meeting about Fulbright grants for students is planned Thursday, April 29, at 2 p.m. in the Memorial Union Peace Garden room. Information about the 2011-12 application process will be provided.

The annual competition for Fulbright grants opens on May 1. The grants are for graduate study or research abroad in academic fields and for professional training in the creative and performing arts. The NDSU deadline for receipt of applications is Sept. 20.

For all grants, applicants must be U.S. citizens at the time of application and hold a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent by the beginning date of the grant. All applicants are required to have sufficient proficiency in the language of the host country to carry out their proposed study or research.

Full grants provide round-trip international travel, maintenance for the tenure of the award, a research allowance and tuition waivers, if applicable. Travel grants provide round-trip international travel and are available to selected countries to supplement maintenance awards from other sources that do not provide funds for international travel or supplement in the applicant’s personal funds. All grants include supplemental health and accident insurance.

Complete program and application information is available at us.fulbrightonline.org/home.html.

If unable to attend, contact Kerri Spiering, associate vice president for Equity, Diversity and Global Outreach and Fulbright program adviser, at 1-8166 or kerri.spiering@ndsu.edu.
