The Senior Staff chapter at NDSU was among the outstanding chapters honored for excellence at the Mortar Board National Conference held July 23-25 in Chicago. 

The group was one of 77 chapters to receive the Silver Torch Award, presented to chapters meeting chapter management standards while exemplifying the ideals of scholarship, leadership and service. Chapter secretary Cindy Barton and adviser La Donna De Geldere accepted the chapter’s award.

Mortar Board is a national honor society recognizing college seniors for outstanding achievement in scholarship, leadership and service. Founded in 1918, the organization has grown from four chapters to 228 chartered collegiate chapters with nearly 250,000 initiated members across the nation. The Senior Staff chapter at NDSU was chartered in 1964 and has 26 members.
