Nursing department receives $7,500 scholarship matching grant

The Department of Nursing has received a $7,500 match grant from Dakota Medical Foundation to support scholarships for nursing students.

The grant award is contingent on the Department of Nursing raising matching dollars. Dakota Medical Foundation will provide a direct match, up to $7,500, for all scholarship dollars donated by alumni. This opportunity allows alumni gifts to have a double impact.

"This joint scholarship program has a direct, tangible impact on the education and careers of our NDSU nursing students,” said Loretta Heuer, associate dean for nursing. “A degree in nursing opens the door to countless opportunities. Since a number of young adults struggle financially to complete their college education, these scholarships assist them in reaching their dream of becoming nurses.

Individuals interested in supporting this scholarship opportunity should call Heuer at 1-7772 for more information.

Dakota Medical Foundation, Fargo, focuses its efforts on improving health and access to medical and dental care in the region with a special emphasis on children. Since 1996, the foundation has invested more than $39 million to more than 341 nonprofit organizations in the region. For more information, visit www.dakmed.org.
