NDSU Extension to co-host aging well webinar

The third in a four-part webinar series hosted by gerontologists from NDSU Extension and South Dakota State University Extension is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 14. Topics will include aging, how aging is different from disease and barriers and strategies to aging well. The webinar begins at noon.

Most people think aging happens to someone in their 60s or 70s, when in fact, all adults are aging, says Jane Strommen, NDSU Extension gerontology specialist.

While chronic disease and disability are more common in older adults, they are not an automatic consequence of aging. There are known strategies to improve health and wellness outcomes, even when individuals face chronic disease or disability.

"By investing time in learning about aging well, individuals are more likely to live healthier and more fulfilling lives once they achieve elder status," Strommen said.

Individuals will be able to participate from their own home or during their lunch hour. The webinar will be recorded for those that are not able to attend in person.

There is no cost to participate. Register at the SDSU Extensionwebsite.

A future Lunch and Learn webinar will feature “Difficult Conversations,” scheduled for Sept. 11 at noon.
