Northern Crops Institute hosts soybean events

The Northern Crops Institute, located on the NDSU campus, is hosting the U.S. Soybean Export Council China Food Grade Soybean course Aug. 15-17 and the American Soybean Association’s World Initiative for Soy in Human Health Program for feed mill ingredient buyers Aug.19-20. 

The China Food Grade Soybean course offers tours, lectures and hands on activities. Topics range from soybean markets to soy chemistry.

During the American Soybean Association’s World Initiative for Soy in Human Health Program, buyers will hear lectures from leaders in the risk management, feed ingredient purchasing and animal nutrition industries. Industry professionals will provide material on soybean futures markets and price predictions, feed ingredient purchasing tools and the importance of soybean quality in feeds.

Lectures and activities will be provided by:

• Frayne Olson, NDSU associate professor of Extension agribusiness and applied economics

• Peter Schott, co-founder of Genesis Feed Technologies

• Kim Koch, feed production center manager at the institute
