With course work totaling 56 credits and a required minor in business administration, NDSU graduates excel at the local, regional, national and international levels.

Bailey Szabla wants to work in marketing and fan engagement for a professional sports team.

“I have a passion for sports, and this program allows me to turn my passion into a career,” said Szabla, who is a senior from Champlin, Minnesota. “What stands out the most about NDSU’s program is how involved the faculty members are with their students. They take the time to learn about who you are and what you want to achieve. I feel comfortable walking into their offices to talk to them about anything.”

An on-the-job internship is the capstone course for all sports management majors. The internship is a training experience of more than 500 hours, with the interns getting immersed in real-world situations. In consultation with the student's adviser, each student is required to secure his or her own internship. Past internship placement sites include local, regional, national and international organizations. 

“NDSU’s program is preparing me for my career in a number of ways,” Szabla said. “The required internship is a direct, hands-on experience in the industry, while the in-class discussions and class projects deepen my understanding of what it’s like to work in sports.”
