An international physics conference is scheduled for Aug. 8-12 at Richard H. Barry Hall. The Discrete Simulation of Fluid Dynamics 20th International Conference will include attendees from more than 14 countries, according to Alexander Wagner, conference organizer and associate professor of physics at NDSU.
At this annual conference, most recently held in Rome and Beijing, the distinguished invited international presenters are from a variety of fields, including physics, mathematics, engineering and geology. The Fargo conference focuses on theory and applications of simulation methods for fluid mechanics that, in contrast to traditional computational fluid dynamics methods, are derived from a microscopic model. These methods continue to increase in popularity because of the simplicity of the algorithms and their suitability for high performance parallel computations.
Discrete simulation of fluid dynamics conferences have emerged as the premiere forum for researchers in the field, and many exciting new discoveries in lattice models of fluid dynamics have been announced first at these conferences.
