Jeff Boyer, College of Science and Mathematics learning designer and technologist and associate professor of practice, has been named NDSU’s director of assessment and accreditation.

“Jeff brings a wealth of experience and creativity to this position,” said Interim Provost Margaret Fitzgerald. “His appointment is effective immediately although he will transition his duties in the College of Science and Mathematics.”

Boyer, who joined the NDSU faculty in 2012, earned his bachelor’s degree at Texas A&M University, master’s degree in education from Montana State University and his doctorate in curriculum and instruction with a concentration on educational technology at the University of Florida.

His courses include Foundations of Science, The Science of Learning, Designing Technology-infused Learning Environments and STEM Journal Club. In addition, he is the director of the North Dakota Governor’s Schools.

In 2017, Boyer was recognized with a Commendatory Faculty Award from the North Dakota University System. The award acknowledges faculty who have demonstrated innovative use of technology in the delivery of classroom instruction.

The position’s major duties include developing and overseeing the university’s assessment program and providing oversight and coordination for NDSU’s compliance with the Criteria for Accreditation and the Assumed Practices as established by the Higher Learning Commission.
