NDSU students to volunteer for MLK service day

An estimated 200 NDSU students are expected to provide a helping hand to local nonprofit organizations during the upcoming Martin Luther King Service Plunge, scheduled for Monday, Jan. 20.

“Service gives students a chance to learn more about the community and the needs of individuals in our community,” said Nicole Askew, coordinator for campus activities. “It can really show students the influence they can have on the lives of others. Not only does providing service allow individuals to grow, but it provides the opportunity for community growth as well.

The student volunteers will work with a number of local organizations, including Arc Attic Treasures, Bethany on 42nd, Child Evangelism Fellowship, Emergency Food Pantry, FirstLink, A Place for Hope: Recovery and Wellness Center, Fargo’s Ronald McDonald House, Project Linus and River Keepers.

As a student-focused, land grant, research university, we serve our citizens.
