Online graduate programs: Transportation and urban systems

NDSU’s Master of Transportation and Urban Systems is an online, non-thesis program that emphasizes practical application. Students apply new technology and techniques in planning, operations and security.

“I wanted to continue working in the transportation planning field but had trouble finding a job without a master’s degree,” said student Jared Kerr, who currently resides in Japan with his wife who was relocated there for her job.

NDSU’s program was the perfect fit for Kerr because of its online delivery and focus on transportation planning. The skills and knowledge he has gained will make it easier for Kerr to find a job when he returns to the United States, he said.

“This master’s program will help me develop expertise in the transportation field,” Kerr said. “This specialized knowledge will help me perform my job better, which will ultimately improve the quality of life of residents in my community.”

An online graduate certificate is also available for practicing professionals who wish to expand their knowledge. For students with a strong research interest, a Master of Science in transportation and urban systems also is offered.
