Three Minute Thesis: Michael Johnson

NDSU graduate students will be in the spotlight during Three Minute Thesis, scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 20, in the Memorial Union. Students will vie for cash prizes as they present their research in only 180 seconds.

Michael Johnson, a graduate student studying materials and nanotechnology, will present “Nanomaterials and Your Health: Development of Novel Nanomaterials in Smart Sensing Devices for Diagnosing and Monitoring Disease.”

"My research focuses on the development of new and novel nanomaterials for uses in electronic biomedical devices,” Johnson said. “In this case, I am presenting on KWO nanorods which have shown great promise as a breath acetone sensor for diagnosing and monitoring diabetes in a non-invasive method."

The first round of the competition is set for 10 a.m. to noon, with the championship round and awards presentation scheduled for 2 p.m.
