NDSU student Brendan Hanson has received a Mid America CropLife Association Young Leader Scholarship. He is a junior from Rochester, Minnesota, majoring in crop and weed sciences with biotechnology emphasis and minoring in botany. He is advised by Kirk Howatt, associate professor and coordinator of the crop and weed sciences undergraduate program.

Candidates for the scholarship must be enrolled in an agriculture-focused program at one of 13 land-grant universities and have secured a summer internship within agriculture, preferably in the crop protection industry. One scholarship is awarded per university.

Hanson will have an internship this summer at WinField United as the Technical Seed Agronomist Intern, working with research agronomists on corn and soybean experiments in their AnswerPlots system. He will be responsible for plots in the Minnesota region.

In September, he is scheduled to attend the MACA annual meeting in St. Louis, where he and the other scholarship recipients will speak about their internship experiences.

As a student-focused, land-grant, research university, we serve our citizens.

Student Focused. Land Grant. Research University.
