CEO Howard Dahl to discuss faith and market economy at forum

The Northern Plains Ethics Institute will host Howard Dahl at its first public forum of 2011. Dahl, president and CEO of Amity Technology LLC, will present "What is wrong with the world? A reflection on the intersection of faith and the market economy" from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, in Richard H. Barry Hall room 140. A meet and greet will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

In addition to being a local business leader, Dahl has a strong interest in and actively fosters ethical business practices. Born and raised in Gwinner, N.D., Dahl earned his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, and his Master of Arts degree in philosophy of religion from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Deerfield, Ill. He serves on many boards, has won numerous awards for business leadership and innovation and received an honorary doctorate from UND in 2010.

Amity Technology LLC is the leading company in North America and Russia for producing sugar beet harvesting equipment. Amity Technology is a company in a family of companies that has been in operation for 60 years. It follows the proud tradition of a family involved in the manufacturing business in North Dakota for more than 60 years. Howard and Brian Dahl, founders of Amity, are grandsons of E. G. Melroe, founder of the Melroe Co. that developed the Bobcat Loader.
