NDSU penny drive raises $1,200

A highly successful campus penny drive has raised more than $1,200 for local charities.

From March 28 to April 1, the Engineering and Architecture Ambassadors and the Pharmacy, Nursing, and Allied Sciences Ambassadors engaged in a friendly competition to collect funds for charity, with a goal of $1,000. The Engineering and Architecture Ambassadors raised funds for Habitat for Humanity, while the Pharmacy, Nursing, and Allied Sciences Ambassadors collected contributions for Dakota Medical Foundation. In the competition, coins were considered positive scores, while cash bills were counted against an organization’s numbers.

When the dust cleared, the Pharmacy, Nursing, and Allied Sciences Ambassadors defeated the Engineering and Architecture Ambassadors.

Dakota Medical Foundation will receive $643.33 and Habitat for Humanity will receive $615.50.

“Thank you to everyone who participated or donated,” said Sara Wald, director of advancement and ambassadors’ adviser in the College of Pharmacy, Nursing, and Allied Sciences. “Your efforts are greatly appreciated. The real winners are the great charities that benefit from all of this work.”
