NDSU communicators win awards at state contest

Becky Koch, director, and Ellen Crawford, information specialist, both of Agriculture Communication, were among the winners of the North Dakota Professional Communicators 2011 communication contest.

The awards were presented at the organization’s state conference April 7-8 in Grand Forks, N.D.

Twenty-two members earned 106 awards for their work in print media, photography, advertising, writing for and development of the web, promotion, public relations, marketing, speeches and books.

Crawford’s and Koch’s awards are listed below:

Second: Agriculture/agribusiness

Becky Koch
First: Website videos – not-for-profit
First: Magapaper/tabloid – one- to three-color
Second: Website development/creation – not-for-profit
Second: Manuals and handbooks – electronic
Second: Audiovisuals – PowerPoint
Third: Website development/creation – not-for-profit

Forty first-place awards were forwarded to the National Federation of Press Women contest. Winners in that competition will be announced at the NFPW annual communications conference, scheduled for Sept. 8-10 in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

North Dakota Professional Communicators is the state affiliate of the National Federation of Press Women, an organization of communication professionals from across the United States. Members of the organization are women and men employed in all aspects of communication: newspapers, public relations, education, magazines, television, radio, publishing, advertising, photography and freelance.
