Bison Information Network to debut remote broadcast system

The Bison Information Network soon will debut its new remote broadcast system. Funded with $36,000 through a Technology Fee Action Plan Award, the system will be used to cover the NDSU Opera Theatre production of “Die Fledermaus” on May 6.

The comic operetta by Johann Strauss, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Festival Concert Hall, will be taped as live by the BIN and aired on ’SU TV (Channel 84) shortly after.

“This remote broadcast system is powerful,” explained Andrew Young, BIN general manager. “This new system will make NDSU events available to students, faculty, staff and alumni in a new way. It’s a huge promotion tool for our university.”

Young said “Die Fledermaus” will be BIN’s only production this academic year, but students, faculty, staff and community members can anticipate the broadcast of athletic events and other campus happenings during the 2011-12 academic year.

For more information, contact Young at (701) 426-9782 or andrew.j.young@ndsu.edu; Rich Lodewyk, broadcast program director, at (206) 819-1430 or rich.lodewyk@ndsu.edu; or Jeff Anders, BIN engineer, at (701) 261-8497.
