The Northern Crops Institute on the NDSU campus held its first-ever Market Update on July 15. The webinar series was created to engage with past course participants, and offer market insights to those professionals.

During the hour-long market update, participants were able to listen in and gain new insights on commodities and trading. Michael Krueger, who has 40 years of experience as a cash grain trader, market adviser, commodities broker, and is the founder of the Money Farm, offered insight on the markets. He gave participants relevant information and fostered questions and discussions.

“I think these Zoom webinars are a great way to reach out to former and prospective participants in NCI courses,” Krueger said. He discussed futures trading, bear and bull markets, along with the current events affecting multiple commodities.

All past course participants are invited to attend these updates, and learn more about commodity markets, value added agriculture and other topics. The institute strives to connect with past course participants, as well as support regional agriculture and value-added processing. By hosting market updates and continuing to provide new information, the webinars will support the mission to expand and maintain domestic and international markets for northern grown crops.

The next Market Update is scheduled for Aug. 19 and will feature crop economist and marketing specialist Frayne Olson.
