Presentation to explore the evolving world of computer games

A technical director from a global interactive entertainment software company is coming to NDSU to provide a peek inside the changing gaming world. Harold Chaput, from Electronic Arts, will present “Anybody, Anytime, Anywhere: The Demands of the Social Gamer, and How to Meet Them” on Wednesday, June 1, at 2:30 p.m. in the Industrial Agriculture and Communications Center (IACC) room 104. The presentation is free and open to the public.

He will discuss evolving game design and the technology required to move from AAA (high-quality games with a high budget) console titles to social games. He will use specific examples from his experience as technical director of International Federation of Football Association (FIFA) Online Services at Electronic Arts.

Chaput led the gameplay team for FIFA ’08 and ’09. He delivered FIFA World Cup 2010 and is currently director of all server development for the FIFA family of games. He earned his doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin in 2004 for his research in robotics and infant cognition. He also founded the Austin Museum of Digital Art, the world's first museum of digital art, in 1997. Chaput has been a research consultant in educational virtual worlds for Northwestern University and NDSU, user interface for Compaq Western Research Labs and machine learning for Motorola Advanced Research Labs.
