Carrie Johnson, NDSU associate professor and Extension specialist, was quoted in two new articles by Moneygeek.com.

Johnson was one of 22 experts from across the country feature in “Expert Suggestions: Factors to Consider When Comparing Car Insurance Quotes,” by Mandy Sleight. The story was updated Jan. 4.

“Consumers should review their insurance needs annually. Looking at your car insurance policy every year and discussing it with an insurance agent can help remind you of any changes that occurred during the year that may affect your insurance needs,” Johnson suggested in the article. “Drivers should consider what is important to them first and foremost.”

The second article, “Advice on Navigating Online Auto Insurance,” was written by Devon Delfino and updated Jan. 5.

“Shopping for car insurance online has become an everyday occurrence, but that doesn’t mean it is always safe,” Johnson said. “Make sure you are purchasing insurance from a reputable company and directly on their website. If you choose an insurance company that is widely known, you are probably fine. But if it is a company that is only regional or statewide, that is less known, do your homework by looking at a company’s Better Business Bureau rating to see if they have had a lot of complaints in the past.”

Johnson joined the NDSU faculty in 2016. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Dakota State University, Madison, South Dakota; master’s degree at South Dakota State University, Brookings; and her doctorate in family and consumer science education at Iowa State University, Ames.
