Ahmad Al Asady, assistant professor of management, is featured in a recent WalletHub.com story.

He was interviewed as an expert for "Cheap Car Insurance in North Carolina," by car insurance writer Candace Baker. The article was published Feb. 5.

Al Asady answered these questions:

• How do you think COVID-19 has affected consumer demand for car insurance?

• Do you think insurance companies have given consumers big enough refunds during the coronavirus pandemic?

• What does it say about car insurance companies that so many have celebrity endorsers?

• Do you think car insurance companies try to mislead customers or is it just marketing?

According to Al Asady, demand for car insurance significantly decreased during the pandemic as more people worked from home and spent less time traveling. He suggested pandemic-based refunds from car insurance companies did not meet expectations.

"This is very disappointing since insurance company profits increased due to the decreased number of payouts for auto collisions since there are fewer cars on the road, which means fewer accidents," Al Asady said in the article.

Al Asady joined the NDSU faculty in 2020. He is a faculty scholar with the Challey Institute for Global Innovation and Growth. He earned his doctorate in business administration from Kent State University.
