Student-athlete named to academic soccer team

NDSU junior defender Ellie Schneider was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District Soccer First Team. Selections were announced by June 3.

Schneider is the first Bison since 2011 to be selected to the team. Last month, she was named to the Summit League Academic All-League Team.

Starting all 16 matches for the Bison during the delayed spring season, Schneider was third on the team with seven points. She has a 3.96 grade-point average in biological science.

The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America honorees will be announced later this summer.

The CoSIDA Academic All-District teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. NDSU is in district six, which includes schools from Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
