NDSU plant sciences graduate student Hashim Andidi was one of five students recognized in the Potato Association of America’s Frank L. Haynes Graduate Student Research Award Competition. Andidi received fourth place for his presentation, “Evaluation of Metribuzin Sensitivity of Potato Using High Throughput Phenotyping.”

The competition was held during the virtual 2021 PAA annual conference in July.

Andidi is seeking his master’s degree while conducting research in NDSU’s potato breeding program. His research objectives are to screen NDSU potato germplasm for response to metribuzin and to develop a high-throughput phenotyping protocol to predict yield and quality loss due to metribuzin sensitivity.

Andidi is advised by Asunta Thompson, professor and potato breeding project leader.
