Welcome Week events vary, from open houses promoting campus programs to exploring Fargo and Moorhead.

Welcome Week is a great way for first-year students to begin building connections and community early in their academic career at NDSU.

“Welcome Week is so important for students because it is the easiest way to make friends and connections in a low-pressure environment,” said Jade Berg, an NDSU senior and intern for New Student Programs.

Incoming freshman Lauren Vesey is most looking forward to building relationships her first year at NDSU, and Welcome Week is giving her and friend Madi Walz the opportunity to get started.

“Welcome Week made it a lot easier to meet new people and build relationships right off the bat with less awkwardness,” said Walz, a freshman studying elementary education.

Events vary, from open houses promoting campus programs and spaces to exploring Fargo and Moorhead.

Matt Janowski, a transfer student studying architecture, enjoyed the Wellness Center Night and Memorial Union Open House. “Everyone around campus is welcoming and accepting and allowing people to join whatever they’re doing,” he said, noting he’s now in a group chat with students he met playing volleyball.

“I finally started to learn my way around campus, and I probably wouldn’t have been able to do that without Welcome Week,” Vesey said.
