Proposals requested for Avenues of Scientific Discovery conference

The NDSU Office of Teaching and Learning is accepting workshop proposals from NDSU faculty and graduate students for the upcoming Avenues of Scientific Discovery conference. The deadline for proposals is Tuesday, Nov. 30.

Faculty and graduate students, individuals or groups can submit proposals to lead workshops offering 45-minute or 90-minute sessions regarding anything related to science, technology, engineering and mathematics, commonly called STEM.

“We are looking for proposals to be workshop leaders for sessions that will be presented to more than 300 middle and high school students,” said Amy Tichy, graduate assistant in the Office of Teaching and Learning. “Presenting a workshop is a great opportunity to bring visibility to your department and its programs, as well as build interest for prospective NDSU students.”

The Avenues of Scientific Discovery conference is scheduled for Saturday, April 2, 2022, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in NDSU’s A. Glenn Hill Center.

Formerly called “Expanding Your Horizons,” the conference is open to all students in grades 7-12. Students from around the region attend interactive STEM-based learning sessions and make connections with NDSU faculty and graduate students.

The goal of the conference is to build excitement and interest in STEM disciplines.
