Distance and Continuing Education offers money management workshops

NDSU Distance and Continuing Education will hold four money management workshops presented by Todd Olson, certified financial planner™, in the SGC Building, 1919 University Drive, Fargo. Courses will be offered in November, December, January and February and participants can choose Tuesday or Thursday sessions.

Specific dates and times are listed below. The money management series is offered for individuals interested in learning the basics about college, investment and retirement planning to shape a better financial future.

  • Investment Basics, Nov. 8 and 10, 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. – Fundamental investment concepts, available investment options and how to consider some general investment strategies will be discussed.
  • College Planning, Dec. 6 and 8, 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. – Participants will examine how much college costs today, projected costs for the future and building blocks that go into funding a college education. The mysteries of financial aid will be solved and participants can see how savings choices impact their child’s eligibility for aid.
  • Retirement Income Planning, Jan. 10 and 12, 2012, 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. – Participants will gain an understanding of how much income is necessary during retirement years to support the retirement lifestyle they want, and how to position assets to provide that income.
  • Long-Term Care Planning, Feb. 21 and 23, 2012, 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. – Learn what the phrase long-term care means, what levels of ongoing care someone may receive and options available in our community.

Cost for each individual course is $25 or $75 if registering for all four. To bring a friend or spouse, a discount rate is available for an additional $10 per course or $25 for all four courses.
