NDSU’s College of Business is set to host the fourth annual Financial Markets Day on Thursday, April 7. The hybrid event will feature a virtual keynote by Charles Schwab managing director and chief investment strategist Liz Ann Sonders, followed by a live panel discussion on “Navigating the Financial Markets.”

The event is free to attend and open to the public. Participants are invited to attend online or in-person at the new Louise S. Barry Auditorium at NDSU’s Barry Hall. Virtual attendees must pre-register on Zoom.

The program is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. with a keynote address by Sonders.

Sonders has a range of investment strategy responsibilities, from market and economic analysis to investor education, all focused on the individual investor. She has received numerous media and industry accolades, including being named “Best Market Strategist” by Kipplinger’s Personal Finance, one of Barron’s “100 Most Influential Women in Finance” and a member of Investment Advisor’s “IA 25,” a list of the 25 most important people in and around the financial advisory profession.

The program continues at 4 p.m. with a panel of regional finance experts. Panelists include Kathryn Lyons, CFA, director and senior portfolio manager at BMO Wealth Management; Josh Howard, CFA, chief investment officer at Bremer Bank; and Emir Beganovic, CFA, program lead at Thrivent Asset Management.

"We're excited to participate again this year," said Lyons, who is the 2021-2023 president of CFA Society Minnesota. "We missed seeing everyone in person last year, so we're especially glad to be back in Fargo."

The event will be moderated by Scott Beaulier, Ron and Kaye Olson Dean of Business at NDSU. After the program, a brief social will be held with networking, refreshments and dessert.

Sponsors include NDSU’s student-led Bison Fund, the CFA Society Minnesota and the Sheila and Robert Challey Institute for Global Innovation and Growth.
