Bison men named to indoor Academic All-League Team

The NDSU men's indoor track and field team had five student-athletes named to the Academic All-League team announced March 23 by the Summit League office.

NDSU senior Trevor Otterdahl was selected for the fourth time in his career, juniors Jacob Rodin and Josh Samyn were each named for the third time in their careers and junior Brandon Lewis and sophomore Trent Davis each earned their first indoor academic all-league honors.

To be eligible for the Summit League Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30, completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions. The award is voted on by the institutions' faculty athletic representatives and sports information directors.

Otterdahl, from Rosemount, Minnesota, graduated with a 3.96 GPA in mathematics and has a 4.0 GPA in the Master of Business Administration program. He earned all-league honors in two events this year – the weight throw and the shot put.

Rodin, from Kenmare, North Dakota, has a 4.0 GPA in agricultural economics and was a two-time all-league performer in the 800-meter run and as a member of NDSU’s 1,600-meter relay team.

Samyn, from Winnipeg, Manitoba, maintains a 3.94 GPA in biological sciences. He was part of NDSU's all-league distance medley relay team and ran the league's third-fastest time in the mile this season at the Iowa State Classic.

Lewis, from Bismarck, North Dakota, has a 3.64 GPA in health and physical education. He was a two-time all-league performer in the long jump and the triple jump.

Davis, from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has a 3.71 GPA in English education and earned two all-league awards in the 60-meter hurdles and the distance medley relay.
