Ancient grains conference scheduled

The Northern Crops Institute at NDSU is set to host an “Ancient Grains Conference” July 20 at the Oliver Kelley Farm in Elk River, Minnesota. The conference will explore the characteristics and use of ancient grains.

Registration is now available online.

Early bird registration is available until June 29 for $195; afterwards, standard registration is available for $250. Registration also will be available on the day of the conference and includes access to the conference, complimentary refreshments and lunch, an invite to the welcome reception the evening before and a copy of the institute’s “Ancient Grains of the Great Plains Handbook,” a $125 value.

The conference is scheduled to begin with registration at 8 a.m. at the Oliver Kelley Farm visitor center. There will be a number of presentations and breakout sessions and the event will conclude at 4:30 p.m. Breakout session topics include: agronomy panel discussion, ancient grain health and nutrition panel discussion, hands-on kitchen demonstrations and an ancient grain trends panel discussion.

The institute will host a welcome reception at Rockwoods event center in Otsego, Minnesota, on July 19. Heavy appetizers and a cash bar will be offered. There is limited capacity, so indicate if you’d like to join at registration.
