Faculty member elected to national organization post


NDSU faculty member Carol Archbold was elected as chair of the Executive Board for the American Society of Criminology's Division of Policing.

Carol A. Archbold, Walter F. and Verna Gehrts Endowed Professor and chair of criminal justice, was elected as chair of the Executive Board for the American Society of Criminology’s Division of Policing. She is the first woman to chair the division.

The ASC Division of Policing advances theory, knowledge and practice in policing through rigorous research and evaluation. The division facilitates a dialogue and builds partnerships among policing scholars, practitioners, policy makers, community leaders and students of policing.

A ceremony and reception are scheduled during the annual ASC conference in Atlanta Nov. 16-19.

Archbold joined the NDSU faculty in 2005. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in sociology at the University of North Dakota and her doctorate in criminal justice from the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

She received the 2018 Outstanding Mentor Award from the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences and the 2013 Chamber of Commerce NDSU Distinguished Faculty Service Award.
