Apply for scholarships now

The NDSU Office of Admission is encouraging prospective first-year students to apply for scholarships for fall 2023.

“Nearly half of our incoming first-year students receive an NDSU scholarship. It’s a great way to help cover college costs,” said Seinquis Leinen, director of the Office of Admission. “Our scholarship application process is very simple and takes just a few minutes to complete.”

To receive a guaranteed scholarship, an incoming first-year student must be admitted to NDSU, and the university needs to receive an official high transcript and applicable test scores by Feb. 1, 2023.

Here are the requirements for some scholarships for fall 2023:

• $12,000 Presidential Scholarship ($3,000 per year) – a student needs a cumulative high school GPA of 3.98 to 4.00 or have an ACT score of 32 or higher and a high school GPA of 3.5 and above.

• $8,000 Presidential Scholarship ($2,000 per year) – a cumulative high school GPA or 3.80 to 3.97 is required, or a student can have an ACT score of 29 to 31 and a GPA of 3.5 and above.

• $6,000 Provost’s Scholarship ($1,500 per year) – a student needs a cumulative high school GPA of 3.65 to 3.79 or an ACT score of 25 to 28 and a GPA of 3.5 and above.

All students are encouraged to apply for named scholarships, a few of which include the National Merit Finalist Award, Harry D. McGovern STEM Scholarship, Mildred Larson Business Presidential Scholarship, NDSU Academic Award or Doosan/Bobcat Award. For full consideration, applicants must be admitted and have completed the online scholarship application by Feb. 1.

“We encourage all first-year students to apply for scholarships by our Feb. 1 deadline,” Leinen said. “Transfer students and students applying for our Cultural Diversity Tuition Waiver can apply for scholarship opportunities through April 1.”
