800 Café announces spring meal

The student-run 800 Café is set to feature a colorful spring-inspired meal on Friday, April 14, in room 312 of the Katherine K. Burgum Family Life Center.

The meal will begin with crostini bread slices with a fresh strawberry and cucumber salsa. The main dish will be apricot glazed turkey breast with a side of sweet potatoes and black beans. The dessert is homemade strawberry and kiwi frozen yogurt.

The meal is managed by nutrition science major Josie Schaefer.

The meal costs $10 per person, with beverages included. Four meals can be purchased at the price of a $35 punch card. Payments can be made in the form of cash or check at the door on the day of the meal. With limited meals available, reservations are preferred, but walk-ins also are welcomed if there is availability.

When making a reservation, please indicate your preferred seating time, if you prefer take out, number of attendees, email and phone number of the person who oversees the reservation. In addition, please also include any allergies of any attendees. Seating in the dining room will begin at 11 a.m. and will end at 12:15 p.m.

Online reservations are preferred, but reservations also can be made by contacting nancy.moberg@ndsu.edu or by calling 701-231-7474. Parking is available in the visitor’s pay lot on the south side of Memorial Union on campus.

The class is instructed by Sherri Nordstrom Stastny, NDSU professor of health, nutrition, and exercise science. Additional restaurant dates and more information regarding 800 Café can be found on the café website.

Operated by NDSU dietetics students, the 800 Café gets its name due to the menu being 800 calories or less. The food is prepared from scratch and made solely by NDSU students.
